Police: Co-Worker Shot Man with Nail Gun

Police reported that Monday's incident was not an accident, and resulted from a dispute between two construction workers.

A police investigation revealed the construction worker who suffered life-threatening injuries from Monday was shot by a co-worker during a dispute.

Police said Guillermo L. Lopez-Molina, 41, of the 8300 block of 14th Avenue in Langley Park, faces charges of first- and second-degree assault along with reckless endangerment.

At around 11:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to the 4200 block of Sweet Leaf Lane in Mayo for a report of an industrial accident.

Upon arrival, Anne Arundel County Fire Department Lt. Cliff Kooser told Patch that units found a construction worker with  from nail-gun shot wounds to his chest and hand.

After paramedics rushed the 34-year-old Laurel man to Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore, police initially believed the incident was an accident. However, an investigation revealed otherwise, according to the release.

“Further investigation, consisting of several interviews, revealed that the victim was involved in a dispute with another member of the crew working on the home,” the release stated. “At a certain juncture, the co-worker shot the victim with a nail gun.”

The suspect was identified as Molina and later arrested, according to police.
