Police Search for Suspects in Lewisdale Teen's Homicide

Prince George's County Police are hoping some community outreach will help them identify the suspects.

Prince George's County Police officers spent Wednesday night in Lewisdale handing out flyers and talking to community members about a double shooting that lead to a 14-year-old boy's death.

Police Officer First Class Edward Martin said police have yet to identify suspects in the alleged drive-by shooting in the 2200 block of Sheridan Street around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Officers arriving on the scene discovered two males suffering from gunshot wounds. One adult male was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition. The second victim, Eliezer Benjamin Reyes of Lewisdale was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said that the preliminary investigation indicates that the shots were fired from a car as the victims and two other witnesses walked down the street together. Police said that two of the people in the group walking down the street were documented gang members, leading police to believe the shooting was gang-related.

The car used in the shooting has been recovered by police and The Gazette is reporting that police have arrested a man that was in the vehicle at the time of the recovery. A police spokesman Thursday morning could not confirm the Gazette's report.
