Prince George's County Police Officers Lauded for MS-13 RICO Bust

County PD Gang Unit awarded for MS-13 sting.

Members of the county police’s Gang Unit Wednesday were honored during the Attorney General’s 59th Annual Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. presented Prince George’s County Police Chief Mark Magaw, Cpt. Milburne Lynn, Sgt. Henry Norris, detectives Felipe Ordono and Jose Febles-Torres with the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service for their work during Operation Mano Dura.  

The two-year-long operation was overseen by the ATF and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, in collaboration with the Prince George’s County Police Department and La Policia Nacional Civial, El Salvador. It resulted in the arrest and successful prosecution of the leaders of three major cliques of MS-13 that were operating in Maryland.

Those prosecutions yielded 25 guilty pleas and nine guilty verdicts in federal court. Seven of the defendants received life sentences.
