Theft, Vandalism to Car, Attempted Robbery: Hyattsville Crime Report

A summary of the last week in Hyattsville crime.

08-25-13       THEFT FROM AUTO, 5700 blk 29th Avenue: sometime between 8:00 p.m. on 8-24-13 and 8:00 p.m. this date, someone broke into a vehicle parked in this area.

08-25-13       THEFT, 3500 blk East West Highway: at approximately 2:15 p.m., a suspect was arrested for shoplifting at a store in the mall.

08-25-13       THEFT, 3500 blk East West Highway: at approximately 2:30 p.m., someone stole a bag of change from the victim has he was collecting from vending machines at the mall.

08-27-13       VANDALISM TO AUTO, 4800 blk Baltimore Avenue: sometime between 7:00 p.m. on 8-26-13 and 7:00 p.m. this date, someone damaged a door handle on a vehicle parked in this area.

08-27-13       THEFT, 6500 blk Adelphi Road: at approximately noon, an unknown suspect approached the victim while at the sink in the restroom at the library.  The suspect took the victim’s phone from his pants pocket and fled in an unknown direction.

08-27-13       THEFT, 3500 blk East West Highway: at approximately 4:00 p.m., a suspect was arrested for shoplifting at a store in the mall.

08-28-13       THEFT, 3100 blk Hamilton Street: at approximately 10:45 a.m., an unknown suspect stole merchandise from a convenience store in this area and fled in an unknown direction.

08-28-13       THEFT, 3500 blk East West Highway: at approximately 3:30 p.m., a suspect was apprehended for shoplifting at a store in the mall.

08-29-13       VEHICLE THEFT, 4700 blk Crittenden Street: sometime between 4-12-13 and this date, a 2006 GMC pickup was stolen from the lot of a body shop in this area.

08-29-13       THEFT, 3500 blk East West Highway: at approximately 1:30 p.m., a suspect was arrested for shoplifting at a store in the mall.

08-29-13       VEHICLE THEFT, 3500 blk East West Highway: sometime between 3:00 p.m. and 4:15 p.m., someone stole a 2010 Dodge Caravan that had been parked at a grocery store in this area.

08-30-13       VANDALISM TO AUTO, 4700 blk Rhode Island Avenue: sometime between 8-28-13 and this date, someone broke the passenger side front window of a vehicle parked in this area.

08-30-13       THEFT FROM AUTO, 3100 blk Madison Street: sometime during the night, someone broke into a vehicle (Nissan) parked in this area and removed the driver’s side air bag.

08-30-13       THEFTS FROM AUTO, 5900 blk 31st Avenue: sometime during the night, someone broke into two vehicles (Nissans) parked in this area and removed the driver’s side air bags.

08-30-13       VANDALISM TO AUTO, 4200 blk Nicholson Street: sometime during the night, someone damaged the rear sliding window of a pickup truck parked in this area. The interior of the vehicle was gone through, but nothing appeared to have been taken.

08-30-13       ROBBERY, 2700 blk Nicholson Street: at approximately 1:45 p.m., the victim was robbed at gunpoint as he entered his apartment building in this area.  The suspect was last seen getting into a cab which went toward Queens Chapel Road.

08-30-13       THEFT, 3500 blk East West Highway: at approximately 5:15 p.m., a suspect was apprehended for shoplifting at a store in the mall.

08-31-13       ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 3100 blk Lancer Drive: at approximately 3:30 a.m., the victim was approached by four unknown suspects who demanded money.  When the victim refused, he was beaten by the suspects who fled toward 31st Avenue when neighbors came outside and called police.

08-31-13       THEFT FROM AUTO, 6100 blk 42nd Avenue: sometime during the night, someone stole property from a vehicle parked in this area.

08-31-13       THEFT, 3500 blk East West Highway: at approximately 8:15 p.m., a suspect was arrested for shoplifting at a store in the mall.  He was also found to have an open warrant through the US Marshall’s Service.
