Three Lewisdale Crash Victims Released from Hospital

Condition of fourth victim upgraded from critical to stable.

Three of the victims have been discharged from Children's Hospital and are now recovering at home, according to Prince George's County police. Included among the discharged are the 2-year-old son of Marianable Cruz-Lopez, who was behind the wheel during the accident. A 6-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl injured in the crash have also been discharged and are now recovering at home. 

An 11-year-old boy injured in the incident has had his medical condition improve from critical to stable. 

According to Prince George’s County Police, the accident in the 2200 block of Hannon Street occurred at 8:47 p.m., when 33-year-old Marianable Cruz-Lopez struck the five children, ranging in age from two to 11. Two of the children were her own, including the toddler, who had minor injuries, and Natalie Hernandez Cruz, 8, who died.

PGPD Lt. David Lloyd told the media in a press conference Thursday that Cruz-Lopez was parked in a driveway with her car facing the street, when she accidentally began accelerating in reverse, striking the five children who were playing in the driveway. The car continued backing up and struck a corner of the garage.

after police left the house after responding to reports of a loud argument between Cruz-Lopez and the landlord of the house from where she was being evicted.
