Two Hyattsville Area Men Arrested in Edmonston Murder

Frederick Scott and Malik Huff, both 24, face charges of first degree murder.

Police have charged two area men with the murder of Phillip Jared Watson, 30, who was shot to death outside an Edmonston, Md. night club in early March. 

Frederick Scott, 24, of the 1900 block of Oliver Street and Malik Huff, 24, of the 5600 block of Cypress Creek Drive are both charged with first degree murder, said police spokesperson Cpl. Henry Tippett. 

According to a statement from police, Scott was arrested on May 5 on a warrant in Las Vegas, Nev. and is awaiting extradition back to Prince George’s County.

Huff was arrested early Friday in Prince George's County on a warrant. He has been remanded to the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro on a no bond status.

Detectives have determined the incident stemmed from an altercation between the victim and the suspects inside the Surf Club in Edmonston prior to the shooting.

Around 1 a.m. on  March 4, police responded to a report of a shooting at the Surf Club on the 4700 block of Kenilworth Ave. Upon arriving they found Watson, of Washington, D.C., suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Watson was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
