Another Turnover at the Helm For Hyattsville's Recreation Department

Steve Yeskulsky, who began with the city in mid-October, is moving on at the end of June.

For the third time in as many years, Hyattsville is losing its director of recreation and the arts.

, who began with the city in mid-October, is moving on at the end of June.

The city has not yet officially announced his departure, but confirmed that Yeskulsky is leaving for a job in California where he will receive a substantial pay increase.

"With my son on the way, making my family of four soon to be family of five, it was necessary to improve my earning potential," Yeskulsky said of his leave.

Yeskulsky, a San Diego native, moved to the area with his family from Florida before starting work with Hyattsville on Oct. 18.

"A shift to the West Coast also puts me near all my friends and family, and allowing for my kids to grow up where I was raised.

"This was a tough decision as I became quite close to many of the residents of Hyattsville. I truly enjoyed working for the city and improving the recreation and the arts department. The city and its residents were very kind and open to my family – my kids are going to miss the Summer Jams."
