City Public Works Has New Acting Head

City employee Julia McTague tapped by council to head up Department of Public Works until permanent hire is found.

After debating the matter in closed session, the Hyattsville City Council unanimously voted to appoint city employee Julia McTague to the position of acting director of the Department of Public Works. McTague takes over from current public works head

"She's well qualified to take on the position in an acting capacity," said city Human Resources Director Chris Vermillion in an interview after the meeting.

McTague currently works as an administrative assistant to the city clerk, Doug Barber. She will be vacating this position to head up the DPW in an acting capacity. Vermillion says that McTague's previous position will be vacant for the time being and that the city is looking into hiring a temporary worker to fill in that role for the time being.
