Hyattsville DSS Office to Close for Renovations

Office shuttered temporarily to clean up damage from 2010 flood.

The Hyattsville office of the Prince George's County Department of Social Services will be temporarily closed to the public in order to repair damage left over from a September 2010 flood.

“The Hyattsville location has offered limited services since sustaining water damage and the majority of our staff were reassigned to our other locations to serve our customers,” said Gloria L. Brown, Director of Prince George’s County Department of Social Services, in a press release. “In our efforts to mitigate the disruption of service to our customers, we’ve endeavored to maintain normal operations despite the unexpected delay in bringing this office to full-service status. We apologize for the inconvenience to County residents as we move forward with this project.”

The office, located at 6505 Belcrest Road in Hyattsville, will close for one month beginning on April 18. The building is expected to be open on a limited basis beginning on May 21, with full operations resuming by summer.
