Letter to the Editor: Conference on Prince George's County Poverty Rate

The conference aims to work with supporters who are also interested in putting an end to poverty both in our country and all over the world.

To the Editor,

Back in February, there was an in Prince George’s County.

When the article was written, the poverty rate in the county was said to be at over 7 percent. Council Member Andrea Harrison was quoted to have highlighted the importance of working to provide the poor with more adequate resources.

In this tough economic climate, poverty is more and more of a concern. In response to this disturbing issue, the University of Maryland at College Park will be hosting a conference from Nov. 4-6.

Organized by the National Student Campaign against Hunger and Homelessness, the conference aims to work with supporters who are also interested in putting an end to poverty both in our country and all over the world.

Joining us will be students from various parts of the nation with a common goal. The conference will provide workshops to educate participants on what they can do to decrease poverty both locally and globally.
