Obama To Visit Prince George's Community College

The president will visit the college in Largo on Thursday to discuss the country's energy concerns.

President Barack Obama will visit Prince George's County this week when he comes to Largo on Thursday morning to speak about the role community colleges play in finding innovative energy solutions. Obama will speak at the Novak Field House on the campus of (PGCC).

The speech is expected to highlight how community colleges can partner with businesses to prepare today’s workforce professionals in a variety of skilled trades—including weatherization, green construction and information technology, according to a release from PGCC.

  • Charlene M. Dukes, president of PGCC.
  • Corey Lamar Blocker, a music student at PGCC and member of the college's gospel choir, who will sing the national anthem.
  • Makarim Muhammad, who is studying pre-medicine at PGCC. She will lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. 
  • Kadeem Adrian Palmer, a psychology student at PGCC, who will deliver the invocation.

The Novak Field House and Robert I. Bickford Natatorium are closed and will reopen at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
