PG Headlines: County Officers Indicted in Kidnapping, Knife Attack, 1960s Sign Bids Laurel Adieu

From county leaders reacting to the Supreme Court's ruling to Hyattsville's mayor wanting to read his Council's emails to staff, the headlines are hopping in Prince George's.

Two county officers are suspended, the Hyattsville Council balks when their mayor wants a look at their emails to staff, a knife attack in Greenbelt, a 1960s sign sends Laurel a farewell message, county leaders speak out on the Supreme Court's decision, and Bed Bath & Beyond is relocating to Crofton—headlines tell of a busy week in Prince George's County.

Two Prince George's County officers were suspended and placed on administrative leave.

Some Council members balk at request, saying mayor lacks authority to control how they reach out to staff.

Two Sent to Hospital Following Knife Attack in Greenbelt
Ogunmuyima Bamidele Ogundele, 37, of Lanham, cut two individuals with a knife during a dispute in Greenbelt, MD, on Saturday, according to the Greenbelt Police Department.

Laurel Shopping Center Sign Bids Farewell
It's the end of the road for the Laurel Shopping Center sign. After being perched above Route 1 in Laurel since the 1960s, the sign was taken down and replaced this past week. Its final message to Laurel read "The 1960s Called and They Want This Sign Back."

State and county leaders say the Supreme Court ruling on health care affirms a trail Maryland was already blazing, while Maryland residents remain split on the issue.

After 10 years at the Bowie Town Center, Bed Bath & Beyond will relocate to the Waugh Chapel Towne Center in Crofton this fall as part of the company's  long-term market strategy.  The company has no plans to open another store in Bowie anytime soon.
