Police Release Sketch of Second Sex Assault Suspect

Assault occurred on hiker biker trail behind West Hyattsville Metro Station.

Police have released a composite sketch for a second suspect wanted for sexual assault which took place on the Northwest Branch Trail behind the West Hyattsville Metro Station. 

According to police, the victim was walking down the trail on the evening of March 27 she was approached by an Hispanic man with a black handled kitchen knife. The suspect forced the victim into the woods where she was sexually assaulted before making off in an unknown direction. Police responded to the incident at about 9:45 p.m. 

The suspect is described as standing between 5 foot 5 inches and 5 foot 7 inches tall, approximately weighing 160 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket with a full length zipper and two lower pockets. He was also wearing black pants, a white shirt with short sleeves and a black hat. 

Police say the suspect spoke Spanish with an El Salvadorian accent. 

The incident is being investigated by the Maryland National Capital Park Police. 

This is the seeking a suspect in connection with a sex crime in the area of the West Hyattsville Metro Station. 

In the wake of several physical and sexual assaults in the area, the Hyattsville City Police Department have wared residents to stay alert on the trails near the West Hyattsville Metro Station.
