Preview: Hyattsville Council Will Discuss Holland's Plans for Duties as Acting City Administrator and Police Chief

The council intends to keep Holland in his new role until at least Feb. 5.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 8 p.m. after a public hearing on proceeds from a city bond to be used to finance the Crittenden Street area rehabilitation.

The consent agenda for the regular meeting includes:

  • The designation of the 5000 block of 36th Place as a residential parking permit district.
  • The appointment of council members Carlos Lizanne and Paula Perry (both of Ward 4), Ruth Ann Frazier (Ward 5), Jason McCray (Ward 3 resident) and MaryBeth Shea (Ward 4 resident) to work with department of public works Director Patrick Ryan to help the State Highway Administration redesign the median on Queens Chapel Road.
  • Support for Cheryl Salmon-Harrington, owner of on Rhode Island Avenue, to purchase an existing class B, beer and wine license from former owner Chris Brophy, who formerly operated a business at the same location.
  • Support for M-NCPPC to approve a historic property grant to Hitching Post Hill.

  • A second reading of a motion allowing the proceeds from a two 2010 city infrastructure bonds—one for $4.09M and another for $50K— to be used to finance and refinance work in the Crittenden Street area. Proceeds were previously approved to cover the cost of several projects, including engineering for a street project on Crittenden Street and This move allows the Crittenden Street project to begin while engineering for the University Hills project is still being worked on.
