It's April, and as if you didn't already know it, it's also Sexually Transmitted Diseases Awareness Month.
Now that have been made aware of this, the Prince George's County Health Department would like you to know it is offering free STD testing all month long.
“Prince George’s County experienced a decrease in both the number of Syphilis (15.3%) and gonorrhea (4.4%) cases from 2011 to 2012. Yet, these declines in Syphilis and gonorrhea rates have occurred along with an increase in Chlamydia infections. The number of sexually transmitted diseases and the consistently high HIV rates are health concerns in the County," wrote Pamela Creekmur, county health officer, in a press release distributed earlier this week.
Residents are also invited to attend the Sexually Transmitted Infection Community Coalition (STICC) conference on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the Prince George’s County Health Department, Cheverly Health Center, 3003 Hospital Drive, Cheverly MD, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
