Repaving Approved for University Hills Roads

Deteriorating roadways in University Hills will get a temporary fix designed to hold them over until permanent repairs are made.

Long plagued by deteriorating roads, residents of University Hills can look forward to a series of temporary repairs designed to make the streets a bit more passable before the city embarks on an ambitious overhaul of the neighborhood's streets in 2014.

the Hyattsville City Council approved a $35,390 contract with Beltsville-based NZI Construction Corporation to mill and repave a series of streets in University Hills. Not voting–on account of absence–were council members Carlos Lizanne (Ward 4), Nicole Hinds Mofor (Ward 5) and Paula Perry (Ward 4).

The locations to be repaved are:

  • Claymore Avenue at Wells Blvd.
  • Claymore Avenue at Rosemary Lane
  • Stanford Street and Gumwood Drive
  • 3107 Gumwood Drive
  • 3210 Gumwood Drive
  • Hitching Post Lane
  • Gumwood Drive at Wells Boulevard
  • 3319 Stanford Street.

The locations were chosen based on suggestions from the Unversity Hills Area Civic Association and the Hyattsville Department of Public Works.

Not included in this job are repairs to the intersection of Wells Blvd. and Adelphi Road. Repairs in that area will need to be conducted in coordination with the Prince George's County public works.

The contract is funded from the FY12 Street Maintenance Budget.
