Report: Finalists Selected For Regional Hospital Location

One year after announcing plans, officials are close to a decision on new medical center.

Largo Town Center and the closed Landover Mall have been endorsed as potential sites for the new Prince George’s County regional hospital, the Washington Post reported.

Both sites are close to metro stations and each offer more than 70 acres of land for development, the newspaper reported. A final decision on the site will be made by September, the Post reported.

The hospital, which is projected to cost $645 million to construct, would be a full-service medical complex and trauma center that would offer emergency and primary care services, the newspaper reported.

There would be room for 259 beds, several private offices, a parking garage and classroom spaces for medical professionals training at Prince George’s Community College, the Post reported.

The new facility would replace the Prince George’s Hospital Center in Cheverly.
