Technology Company Could Tip Development in West Hyattsville

ETS would like to move their headquarters from Virginia to property at 5605 Ager Road.

The Hyattsville City Council Monday night approved support of a new small development on Ager Road, which counsel for the applicant said could be the catalyst for renewal of the West Hyattsville Metro area.

Executive Technology Solutions, a Maryland State Corporation which provides healthcare support, facilties and maintenance services, transportation and maintenance services, human resources and administrative support services, would like to move their headquarters from Virginia to property at 5605 Ager Road.

ETS has U.S. Department of Defense Top Secret clearance and clients include Andrews Air Force Base, National Institutes of Health, National Navy Medical Centre, and the state of Maryland.

Their business plan is for the corporate headquarters to have no more than 10 staffers over the next five years.

“We think this is an opportunity to really jump start this area,” said Larry Taub, attorney for ETS.

The property, which is east of the West Hyattsville Metro station and just south of Mercadito Cruz, a Latino grocery store. It is currently zoned for residential/townhouse development in the Transit District Development Plan.

ETS would like the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission to rezone the area to include “all types office and research.”

The proposed building would be 22,000 square feet on two floors.

“We think [this plan] is quite consistent with the West Hyattsville [Transit District Overlay Zone],” Taub said.

ETS went door-to-door asking area residents for their input on the plan before bringing it to the council, and were met with appreciation for their efforts, said Stuart Eisenberg, of the Hyattsville Community Development Corporation.
