Traffic Advisory: Delays Expected in North Hyattsville

The Hyattsville City Police Department is warning area area motorists to expect delays in areas along Adelphi Road and University Boulevard today as a result of several events. 

"Please use caution, allow extra time for travel, and choose alternate routes when possible," reads a notice sent out to residents on the city's Nixle alert network.

For starters, Northwestern High School's homecoming parade will be starting at 1 p.m. from the Mall at Prince George's Plaza at 1 p.m. The parade will wind up Toledo and Adelphi Road to the school's campus on Adelphi Road. Then there will be a home football game at 3 p.m.

Also at 1 p.m., about 1,000 activists from Casa De Maryland will be marching from their Langley Park headquarters on University Boulevard to  the University of Maryland. 

Then there is also a University of Maryland home football game against Wake Forrest at 3:30 p.m. It's parents day, and a big crowd is expected.
