What's Up With Hyattsville During the Holidays

You're probably running last-minute errands this holiday week, but you might want to take a look at some of these schedule changes in Hyattsville and Prince George's County to make sure you're in the loop.

 

With the holiday season here, some of us may have already shut down and are in official hibernation mode until the start of 2012. But Hyattsville and Prince George's County offices are still kicking for the week, and many transportation services will be available throughout the holidays.   • Refuse and Recycling will not be collected on either of those two days. There are no other changes to the trash pick up schedule.

 

  • County Government Offices: Closed Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2.
  • County Department of Environmental Resources: Contact the Waste Management Division with questions: 301-952-7630

Operation will be suspended on Monday, Dec. 26 for the following facilities: Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill, Brown Station Road Public Convenience Center, Electronics Recycling Acceptance Site, Household Hazard Waste Acceptance Site, Missouri Avenue Solid Waste Acceptance and Recycling Center, and Prince George’s County Yard Waste Composting Facility.

Trash collection in county contracted areas will not occur on Dec. 26, and will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day.

Recycling will operate on a normal schedule on Dec. 26.

  • County Bus

The Bus will operate the following routes on Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2: Routes 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 Express, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 21 Express, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 53.

The Bus routes 51, 51 Extended and 52, will not be in service on those days, but will return to normal operations on Tuesday, Dec. 27 and Tuesday, Jan. 3.

 

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority will operate extra afternoon trains on Friday, Dec. 23, and Friday, Dec. 30, for customers leaving work early for the holiday weekends.

and Metrobus service will operate on regular weekend schedules on Saturday, Dec. 24; Sunday, Dec. 25; Saturday, Dec. 31; and Sunday, Jan. 1. (Metrorail will remain open until 3 a.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.)

Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2, Metrorail will operate between 7 a.m. and midnight, and Metrobus service will operate on a Sunday schedule. No track work is scheduled on either weekend.
