Market Day Is Back

Concordia Lutheran School uses the Market Day program for fundraising

Concordia Lutheran School is back this year to fundraising with the popular Market Day program.

Market Day is an ordering system that delivers food and other household items to the school once a month.  Concordia Lutheran has had good results from their participation in the Market Day program and the school is able to keep a portion of the proceeds to fund essential school needs.

"Market Day has proven to be successful for us," said Carmen Joge, an organizer of the fundraising campaign.

The school started selling the goods on occasion more than two years ago she said. The school parent group, PALS, decided to take on the monthly ordering programs and has been pleased with the results.

"The quality of the foods and household items available for sale through the Market Day program have been top-notch," Joge said.

The selection offered has expanded to all types of finger foods, meats, desserts, herbs and spices and even "green" household items, she said. Orders are delivered to the school for pick up once a month.

Joge, the mother of a third grade student at the school, explained that the proceeds from Market Day have been used to buy textbooks for several grades at the school.

Concordia Lutheran has students from pre-school through eighth-grade. Currently about 30 families and neighbors who live in the vicinity of the school participate in the monthly ordering program, Joge said, and she is hopeful more will sign up.

"Families are able to balance their budget, eat healthy foods and benefit our school all at the same time, she said.
