Two Northwestern Students Involved in Stabbing Near High School

The school was put on lockdown for the afternoon.

Two students were involved in a stabbing off school property Wednesday afternoon.

According to Prince George's County Police, the 17-year-old suspect stabbed another 17-year-old student around 2:56 p.m. in the 6700 block of Belcrest Road. The injured teen was transported to a local hospital. The victim has non life-threatening injuries, according to police. 

Police said that multiple suspects have been aprehended and interviewed in connection with the incident.

Prince George's County Schools Spokesman Briant Coleman confirmed that both the victim and the suspect involved were students at Northwestern High School, but he said the stabbing did not occur on school property.

The school was however put on lockdown as a precaution, Coleman added, but they were dismissed at their regular time.

He told The Washington Post that both students involved were males and that they did not attend classes on Wednesday.

He said Prince George's County Police are taking the lead on the investigation.
