This is the inaugural year for the Bowie Run for a Cause 5K, which picks up where the Run4Kathy left off. The Popp and Long families turned the Run4Kathy over to the directorship of the Prince George's Running Club in the hopes of allowing the race, and it's commitment to facilitating fundraising for a good cause, to continue long into the future.

Well, not exactly! Many of you are a loyal Run4Kathy racers – the legacy race that started one of the most recognized, charity oriented races in Prince George's County. After 10 years and more than $100,000 raised, the Popp and Long families turned the Run4Kathy over to the directorship of the Prince Georges Running Club in the hopes of allowing the race, and its commitment to facilitating fundraising for a good cause, to continue long into the future.

The running club will donate to cancer causes, including the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center as well as the Cancer Support Foundation.
The event includes a 5k run, a one-mile walk and a children's fun run.
