Hyattsville Skate Park Construction Underway

A construction team is working on renovations to including a skate park for local youth.

Melrose Park is located on Rhode Island Avenue at Charles Armentrout Road in Hyattsville.

Workers are building ramps, working on underground piping and landscaping. They expect the skate park portion of the project to be completed just after Thanksgiving, one worker said.

On Oct. 15, 2008 M-NCPPC presented Hyattsville the results of a use study and proposal to create the skate park, the city’s website states. On Nov. 3, 2008, the passed a motion supporting the proposed skate park plans. However, the council preferred that a proposed half basketball court not be included in the plan and that the skate park area be expanded.
