RGIII Will Join Teammates At Training Camp

With the doctor’s approval and a thumbs up from his coach, Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will be ready to join his teammates at training camp in Virginia this week.

Griffin tweeted the news out to his followers, saying that his doctor cleared him for practice and coach Mike Shanahan would ease him back into training with the team. He also thanked his Twitter followers for their support.

The star quarterback aggravated a knee injury during a playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks in January, resulting in a torn ACL, The Washington Post reported.

His recovery was expected to take seven to nine months, the Post reported. In March, Griffin’s surgeon James Andrews said his recovery was “unbelievable” and compared it to Adrian Peterson’s success story.

When he’s on the field in Richmond, VA this week, he will participate in 7-on-7 drills with healthy teammates, rather than work exclusively with other injured players, according to the Post.

If it turns out Griffin is not in the best shape to play, he may be placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, Sports Illustrated reported.
