Two DeMatha Hoops Stars Make National Team

Recent grads hope to make impact on international stage. Next stop: Brazil!

Two recent DeMatha Catholic High School basketball players, point guard James Robinson and forward Jerami Grant, have made the cut for the United States Men's U18 National Team, according to ESPN

Both Grant and Robinson  with Grant headed to Syracuse University and Robinson headed to Pittsburgh. 

The Two DeMatha stars will recognize some familiar faces from the ranks of their recent opponents.  Gonzaga High School junior Nate Britt, a point guard who has committed to North Carolina, is also on the team. 

The team will be coached by Billy Donovan from the University of Florida, with help on assistant coach from Mark Few, from Gonzaga University, ad Shaka Smart, from Virginia Commonwealth University. 

U18 team trials ran from June 5-11, followed immediately by international play. The team departed yesterday from Colorado Springs for Sao Sebastiao do Paraiso, Brazil to compete in the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, which begins play on June 16.

They will be competing in an eight team tournament against Brazil, Mexico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Argentina, Canada, Colombia and Puerto Rico.
