Viewfinder: DeMatha Dominates Gonzaga

Stags outgun, out block Eagles, winning 76-47 in front of national television audience.

It was supposed to be a rematch of DeMatha's narrow, .

But it wasn't. 

Perhaps to the chagrin of ESPN's network heads who may have been hoping for a closer game to hook a national cable audience, DeMatha used stifling defense and opportunistic offense to leave Gonzaga in the dust, 76-47.

DeMatha was led in scoring by Syracuse Recruit Jerami Grant with 19 points followed by junior center BeeJay Anya with 15 points. Anya was a force under the basket, nabbing 11 rebounds and three blocks in a show of defensive force.

The highlight of the night came at the end of the first half, when junior Jarius Lyles hit a three-point shot from midcourt as time expired to put DeMatha up 33-27.

After the half, DeMatha went on an unanswered 14 point run, aided by a series of near-consecutive Gonzaga fouls. The deficit proved too large for the Eagles to overcome, and Stags kept adding to the lead. 

Gonzaga was led in scoring by guard Nate Britt, who threw in 21 points. 

DeMatha improves to 23-3 on the season. Gonzaga drops to 22-3.
