<p>The Rosa L. Parks Elementary School, renamed for the civil rights heroine, was formerly called the West Hyattsville Elementary School. It has 750 students during the school year.</p> <p>The school is offering school breakfasts until 7:40 a.m. from June 28 to Aug. 15. Its colors are red, yellow and black and the school mascot is a Titan.</p> <p>Now entering its fourth year of operation, Rosa L. Parks Elementary School opened its doors to students on August 21, 2006. Located on an eight-acre site one mile from the Washington, D.C. border, the physical plant was completed in August of 2006 at a cost of $17,883,000. Amenities include a multipurpose room, community room, vocal and instrumental music rooms, art studio, science lab, computer lab, reading resource room, television studio and library/media center (The Driskell Center). All classrooms are equipped with ceiling-mounted LCD projectors, visualizers, InterWrite boards and sound enhancement units.</p> <p>A total of 27 countries are represented within the make-up of the current student body.</p>
