Prince George's County Couples Take Advantage of Auspicious Date

More than two dozen couples wed on 12-12-12 in hopes of cashing in on the luck the once-in-a-lifetime date may have.

Maybe they believed that Dec. 12, 2012 was a lucky day or maybe they just wanted an easy date to remember as their anniversary, but 29 couples were married Wednesday in Prince George's County Circuit Court, according to a court clerk. The date 12-12-12 was big for weddings around the world as the triple date won't appear again for almost another century—until Jan. 1, 2101, according to CNN. More than 7,500 couples were set to get married in U.S., according to The Huffington Post, and thousands more across the world wed and used social media to share their photos (hashtag:#121212) Wednesday. 12-12-12 Concert to Benefit Hurricane Sandy Victims

Some of the biggest names in music will play at a benefit concert on Wednesday. All proceeds will go to Hurricane Sandy victims, via the Robin Hood Foundation.

  Huge names in music are lending their talents to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts at the “12-12-12” concert on Wednesday, Dec. 12. Every penny sold from ticket sales will go directly to Sandy victims through the Robin Hood Relief Fund, which provides material, money and aid to local organizations that are serving families and individuals in the regions hardest hit by the storm, including over 200 Patch towns in New Jersey, Connecticut and Long Island. The all-star lineup includes Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Dave Grohl, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Chris Martin, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Eddie Vedder, Roger Waters, Kanye West, The Who and Paul McCartney, with other artists to be announced. This was a great show, hope the money really goes to help those poor people. funny thing was most of the big name acts were all from the UK, Roger Waters , Rolling Stones, The Who, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton so that was cool they took time out to help out us Yanks.   more ›
