SPEAK OUT: What Did You Think of the Olympics Closing Ceremony?

Are you sad to see the Olympics go? What did you think of the closing ceremony?

The 2012 Summer Olympics officially ended last night with memorable performances from The Who, George Michael and of course, a Spice Girls reunion. Olympians have returned home – some, like Bethesda swimmer Katie Ledecky, with gold medals.  Other Montgomery County Olympians, like rhythmic gymnast Julie Zetlin and Darnestown kayaker Caroline Queen, may not have taken home a medal, but they still made Olympic history in their own ways. Zetlin, another Bethesda native, was the first U.S. rhythmic athlete to compete at the Olympics since 2004 and the only American in this year’s competition. Kids Get Moving at Native American Olympic Fun Day

The National Museum of the American Indian partnered with the White House to get kids moving.

Native Americans have been an important part of the Olympic Games over the years. From Jim Thorpe to Billy Mills, Native Americans have broken racial boundaries and won gold in the world's greatest competitions. The National Museum of the American Indian partnered with the White House on a Let's Move Olympic Fun Day initiative to get kids moving while learning the history of Native Americans in the Olympic Games on Saturday. Check out our photos from the event. Children also had the chance to participate in a Let's Move scavenger hunt Saturday in the Enid A. Haupt Garden behind the Smithsonian Castle.
