Guilty Verdict in New Year's Eve 2010 Murder

Prosecutors asking for life sentence plus 40 years in prison.

After deliberating for less than an hour, a jury has found a 30-year-old man guilty of the murder of a 58-year-old Chillum man on New Year's Eve 2010.  David Henry Wright, also from Chillum, was found guilty of first degree murder in the death of Ansel Donova Whitlocke.  Prosecutors with the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office said that Wright stabbed Whitlocke 43 times after Whitlocke refused to hand over money to Wright and two accomplices during a New Year's Eve robbery at Whitlocke's apartment.  The other two subjects charged in the murder, DeMarco Williams and Verlyncia Coleman, already have pleaded guilty to first degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.  Back in May, Williams was sentenced to 45 years…

Chillum Man Arrested for Child Kidnapping, Sex Crime

Young girl kidnapped, sexually assaulted in Lewisdale.

Prince George's County Police announced the arrest of a 25-year-old Chillum man on charges relating to a  kidnapping and sexual assault of a six-year-old girl on Monday.  Police believe the man, Charles Asuming Amofa of the 600 block of Sheridan Street in Chillum, took the young girl while she was shopping with her father in the Value Village Thrift Store.  Officer Fredys Castro-Rivas, speaking in a press conference, said that the girls father approached him in the store at about 1:30 p.m. to report that his daughter went missing. Castro-Rivas, who was working his second job as a security officer at the thrift store, sprung into action. Police Seek Chillum Sex Assault Suspect

Woman sexually assaulted at gunpoint early Saturday morning.

Prince George's County Police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a woman in Chillum over the weekend.  The incident occurred on Saturday, June 23 at about 3:45 a.m. in the 5700 block of Cypress Creek Drive. That's when police said a woman was approached by an unknown man as she parked her car. Armed with a handgun, the man ordered the woman into the back seat of her car and sexually assaulted her before fleeing on foot, police said.  Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man in his 20s and weighing around 175 pounds. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, a dark blue Adidas polo shirt with three horizontal white stripes across the chest and blue jeans.  Police are urging anyone with information which could lead to the arrest …
