Sobriety Checkpoint in Riverdale Park Saturday

Anyone found to be driving under the influence will be arrested, said police.

If you need an extra incentive not to drink and drive on Saturday night, Riverdale Park police will be manning a sobriety checkpoint somewhere within city limits. The checkpoint is part of a multi-jurisdictional effort taking place throughout Prince George’s County to place a focus on sober driving, according to Riverdale Park police Lt. Andrew Powell.  What should drivers expect when they pass through a sobriety checkpoint?  According to Maryland law, drivers are required to stop at sobriety checkpoints, but they do not have to roll down their windows or engage with officers, said Powell. Friday: DUI Checkpoint on University Blvd.

County police to conduct sobriety checks near Lewisdale, Adelphi, Langley Park neighborhoods.

Friday, July 13, could be an unlucky day for local motorists driving under the influence. That evening, officers from the Prince George's County Police Department's Special Operations Division will be manning a DUI checkpoint from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., Saturday, along the 2400 block of University Boulevard, near the neighborhoods of Lewisdale, Adelphi and Langley Park. This is the second such DUI checkpoint in this area since the evening of Friday, June 21, 2012, when county police conducted a checkpoint between the 2300 and 2500 blocks of University Boulevard.
