At a preliminary hearing Prince George’s County Police Det. Thomas Hollowell, lead investigator in the case, took the stand and recounted the investigation. A preliminary hearing for a man charged with the June 30 murder of a 21-year-old man at University Town Center has been postponed until Aug. 25. Derrell Emmanuel Mason, 17, of Washington, D.C., Thursday morning was brought before Prince George’s County District Court Judge G. Richard Collins in prison orange and handcuffs for a scheduled preliminary hearing. Mason is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder and first-degree assault in the stabbing death of Leonard Raynod Smith-Matthews.
