The Hyattsville City Council has their party hats on tonight as they take votes to schedule two upcoming festivals. Read the full agenda and supporting documents here.

During tonight's meeting the City Council will vote to schedule two festive events. Handmade on Hamilton First up is Handmade on Hamilton, the reborn International Street Festival, which fizzled out over the last two years. The event was not held in 2011, prompting Councilor Carlos Lizanne to blame the council for ignoring his ward. The resolution, introduced by Mayor Marc Tartaro, officially schedules the event for Nov. 3, 2012. The event will take place on Hamilton street between Queens Chapel and Ager roads. In a January 17 presentation before City Council, acting Parks and Recreation Department head Abby Sandel said that international festivals had become a victim of their own success, too numerous to stand out from what had become a …

The Hyattsville City Council will meet in special session on Monday, Jan. 30 to discuss a number of issues. Check out the agendas in this edition of Doc Drop. Among the items before council this week: Residential Parking Reversal - Following last week's public hearing on the appropriateness of residential parking restrictions in the 5000 block of 36th Place, Mayor Marc Tartaro has introduced a measure which would remove those restrictions. The restrictions were approved by City Council last October, but at last week's public hearing, a number of residents voiced opposition to the restrictions.
