ICC Traffic Will Bypass Hyattsville

The Intercounty Connector may cut Hyattsville residents' travel time on the Beltway, but otherwise won't change Hyattsville life very much.

The planned Intercounty Connector highway that will link parts of Prince George's and Montgomery counties could bring substantially more traffic and development to communities along U.S. Route 1—a route that cuts through Hyattsville. Few, however, expect the city to see much increased activity.  "I think it will have a much bigger effect further north, closer to Laurel," said Katie Murchison, a Hyattsville resident. "It's too far away from us, it's so much further north. If anything, I think the road that brings traffic to Hyattsville is East West Highway."
