Officers found the victim on the 2400 block of University Boulevard.
A Hyattsville man is the victim of a fatal hit and run, according to Prince George's County Police. On Saturday, patrol officers found an unresponsive male on the 2400 block of University Boulevard in Lewisdale at around 9 p.m. Samuel Diaz, 28, was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. The striking vehicle has been described as a silver SUV with front end damage, according to police, who also report there were no crosswalks at the location.

Academic, attendance excellence recognized at assemblies.
Over the last two days, Nicholas Orem Middle School has been honoring its best and brightest students. A full 34 percent of the students at the school, 221 out of 658, made the honor roll with GPA's of 3.0 and above. An additional 24 students made the Principal's Honor Roll with straight A's in their studies. Additionally, 33 percent of the students at the school made perfect attendance. DNA evidence aided police in arresting the 31-year-old Hyattsville man.
Kevin Lewis Deleon of Hyattsville, Md. pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a first-degree sex offense committed in 2005 against a then 14-year-old girl in Greenbelt, Md., according to a Greenbelt Police Department press release. Nearly four years after the offense, DNA evidence led police to Deleon, police said. One June 25, 2005, the 14-year-old girl had been walking home with her younger brother and sister in the 9200 block of Edmonston Road in Greenbelt. Then, an adult male, whose face was covered, pointed a handgun at the eldest girl and forced her to go with him and perform a sex act on him, according to police. I was coming back from six flags on saturday may 5th & i sall the dead body laying right there on the road while the peramedics tried to pick him up. His face was bloody & his eyes where opened. I feel really bad for that man, may he rest in peace .   more ›
