14-Year-Old Slain in Apparent Drive-by Shooting in Lewisdale

Boy was one of two victims, police say.

A 14-year-old boy has died after being shot in what police believe was a gang-related shooting in Lewisdale early Wednesday. At 12:15 a.m. on Dec. 5, police were called to the 2200 block of Sheridan Street for a report of a shooting. Officers arriving on the scene discovered two males suffering from gunshot wounds. One adult male was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.  The second victim, 14-year-old Eliezer Benjamin Reyes of Lewisdale, was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.  Police said that the preliminary investigation indicates that the shots were fired from a car as the victims and two other witnesses walked down the street together. Langley Park Residents Say Security Relations Improved

News report sparks changes at Langley Park apartment complex.

Residents of Bedford Park Apartments in Langley Park had been complaining about harrasment from security guards hired to patrol the complex. Now, after a local TV station reported on the complaints, residents say the situation has improved a bit.  Via CTV News

Police Investigating Langley Park Dead Body

Dead body found near Jasmine Terrace.

Investigators from the Prince George's County Police Department are investigating a dead body discovered in Langley Park earlier this afternoon.  According to PGPD Spokesman Edward Martin, the body was discovered in the 1800 block of Jasmine Terrace at about 2:30 p.m. As yet, no information on the condition of the body or the manner of death has been released.  This is a developing story. U.S. Marshals Make Arrest in Langley Park Stabbing

Suspect allegedly stabbed ex-girlfriend with kitchen knife.

U.S. Marshals in New Jersey have arrested a man charged with attempted second-degree murder stemming from a violent incident in Langley Park last month.  According to a press release issued yesterday by the Prince George's County Sheriff's Office, Langley Park resident Carlos Monge-Martinez was arrested on May 7 in Red Bank, New Jersey. He is currently awaiting extradition to Prince George's County.  According to police, Monge-Martinez stabbed his ex-girlfriend with a kitchen knife and then tried to stab a man during a fight which occured in the 7900 block of 18th Avenue in Langley Park on April 23.  In addition to attempted second-degree murder charges, Monge-Martinez also stands charged with two counts of first and second-degree assault …

Police Host Community Thrift Store in Langley Park

New and gently used clothes, shoes, toys, backpacks, books and more will be on sale for $10 or less.

Need cheap winter clothes now that the weather has gotten decidedly colder? The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Community Services Division along with the District I Community Oriented Policing Services and Community Outreach & Development, Inc., are hosting a Family to Family Community Thrift Store from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday in Langley Park. New and gently used clothes, shoes, toys, backpacks, books and more will be on sale for $10 or less at the COPS satellite office at 8011 New Hampshire Ave. There will also be information on health, employment and training, as well as crime prevention and personal safety brochures. All goods were donated by entities in Prince George’s County.
