Metro anticipates delays for some riders on the Green, Red and Orange Lines this weekend while it performs work, which will begin at 10 p.m. Friday and continue through closing on Sunday. Green Line trains will single track between Greenbelt and College Park, with every other train terminating at College Park instead of Greenbelt. Metro says riders traveling to or from Greenbelt Station should allow 10 additional minutes of travel time. Buses are slated to replace trains on the Red Line between Fort Totten and Forest Glen. Four Green Line Stations will be closed starting Friday night.
Beginning Friday at 10 p.m., Metro's website states there will be no Green Line trains between Greenbelt and Fort Totten in either direction. This condition will continue over the weekend and throughout Memorial Day on Monday, while Metro installs new switches. Four stations will be closed during this time: Although busses will replace trains between Greenbelt and Fort Totten, Metro recommends that customers who normally drive and park at Greenbelt—consider using New Carrollton Station on the Orange Line as an alternate. Green Line trains will be sharing track this weekend in Metro work zones.
After the holiday break, Green Line track work is back on the schedule. From 10 p.m. Friday through closing Sunday, Green Line trains will share one track between Georgia Ave-Petworth and Fort Totten to allow for rail maintenance. Green Line trains will also share one track between Naylor Road and Branch Ave to allow for fastener renewal. Metro has announced that Green Line trains will operate every 15 minutes.
