As the Ravens prepare to face the 49ers in Sunday's Super Bowl—and with the Redskins having long since begun their own off-season—Washington fans are once again faced with a conundrum: should they back Baltimore? It's a question many Washingtonians confronted in recent seasons as the Ravens racked up four playoff appearances to the Redskins' none. But with the arrival of rookie sensation Robert Griffin III and the team's first signs of postseason life since 2007, has the calculus changed? Murder charges were dropped against Ray Lewis after the witnesses were interviewed ( he was reportedly sitting in a limo with a woman when the stabbings took place outside) He became a witness for the prosecution against the two that did the stabbings. Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III's knee gave way in Sunday's playoff game, raising questions about the decision to keep him in.

It's the talk of the Washington water cooler this morning: should RGIII have stayed in? For those who missed Sunday's wild card matchup at FedEx Field between the Washington Redskins and the Seattle Seahawks, suffice it to say that it was not a happy affair for the Burgundy and Gold. After building up a 14-0 lead against the red hot Seahawks, Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III appeared to aggravate a lingering right knee injury incurred against the Baltimore Ravens on Dec. 9. Late Sunday night, either the Washington Redskins or Dallas Cowboys will be crowned champions of the NFC East and earn a home playoff game in January. In the DC Metro area, the buzz is deafening, but there is significant national interest in the game as well. An ESPN.com poll asking, "Which team are you rooting for in the Cowboys-Redskins game in Week 17 that will decide the NFC East title?" has garnered more than 214,000 votes. Seventy-three percent (representing 49 states) said they are rooting for the Redskins, while 27 percent, representing a lone (star) state are pulling for the Cowboys. Ulman to Baker: I'm Sick of Hearing about RG III

Howard County Executive Ken Ulman presents a wager to Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker -- if the Redskins against the Ravens win Howard County will be lit up burgundy and gold.

Howard County Executive Ken Ulman is fed up and he wants Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker to know. “I’m sick of hearing about the Redskins’ new quarterback,” Ulman said in a statement.  “RG III will be TWO little and TWO late to handle the stifling Ravens defense," he said, referring to Redskins' quarterback Robert Lee Griffin III. Ulman and Rushern are supposed to attend this weekend's "Beltway Battle" between the Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Ravens at the Redskins' stadium. The Redskins stunned the Saints in New Orleans, 40-32; the Ravens rolled over the Cincinnati Bengals at home on Monday Night Football.

Could week 1 have possibly gone any better for the two NFL teams separated by merely an hour on I-95? The Washington Redskins were road underdogs featuring a rookie, albeit highly-touted rookie, quarterback playing in a hostile environment against a former Super Bowl MVP quarterback. The Baltimore Ravens faced adversity of their own, missing the NFL's 2011 Defensive MVP, Terrell Suggs, and coping with the recent death of former owner Art Modell.
