Pr. George's Officers of the Month: Julius Askins, Teresa Murphy, Dwight Prophet, Andrew Wallman

Prophet and Wallman put themselves between gunfire and a school; Askins and Murphy arrested a man linked to several burglaries, according to police.

  Police Officers Julius Askins and Teresa Murphy were chosen in January as Prince George's police officers of the month for police District V. Here's what the Prince George's Police Department said about Askins and Murphy: A citizen told Police Officers Julius Askins and Teresa Murphy of a breaking and entering in progress on Dec. 19 in Clinton, and gave them a description of the suspect’s car. Askins and Murphy rushed to the scene and spotted the suspect’s car speeding away. They managed to pull it over, and they saw stolen property in plain view. Pr. George's Police Officer of the Month: Justice Halsey

Police Officer Justice Halsey is January's Officer of the Month for District IV.

  Police Officer Justice Halsey was chosen in January as Prince George's police Officer of the Month for police District IV. Here's what the Prince George's Police Department said about Halsey: Police Officer Justice Halsey was called to the 5400 block of Livingston Terrace in Oxon Hill on Dec. 25 for the report of an apartment burglary. When he arrived, Halsey spotted several suspects a few apartment buildings away.  Halsey identified stolen property from the victim and arrested three suspects, and a fourth was caught in a stairwell behind the victim’s apartment. Pr. George's Police Officer of the Month: Corporal Decatur Thompson

Corporal Decatur Thompson is January's Officer of the Month for Police District III.

Corporal Decatur Thompson was chosen in January as Prince George's police Officer of the Month for police District III. Stay tuned to Patch for features on all of January's Prince George's officers of the month.  Here's what the Prince George's Police Department said about Thompson: Corporal Decatur Thompson was on routine patrol Dec. 7 when he stopped a suspicious person who repeatedly provided him with false information. Thompson arrested the suspect for making false statements.  But he also observed the suspect had several new car jacks and other new merchandise items.   Police Officers First Class Harold Nichols and Marlon Carey were chosen in January as Prince George's police Officers of the Month for police District II. Stay tuned to Patch for features on all of January's Prince George's officers of the month.  Here's what the Prince George's Police Department said about Nichols and Carey: Police Officers First Class Harold Nichols and Marlon Carey were called to a restaurant on Campus Way South Dec. 5 for the report of drug activity.  On scene, the officers spotted two men inside the restaurant who they tried to leave when they saw the police. Police Officer John Quarless is January's Officer of the Month for Police District I.

Police Officer John Quarless was chosen in January as Prince George's police officer of the month for police District I.  Stay tuned to Patch for features on all of January's Prince George's officers of the month. Here's what the Prince George's Police Department said about Quarless: On Dec. 4, Police Officer John Quarless spotted a car without its headlights on. While trying to conduct a traffic stop, he noticed the driver throw an object out of the driver’s side window. Quarless arrested the driver, who police say is a known gang member. Quarless also recovered the object he saw thrown, which turned out to be a revolver and ammunition.
