No Quorum Stalls Hyattsville Sidewalk Plans

Without enough City Council members to do anything else, meeting to determine future of University Hills streetscape project becomes a public hearing.

It was supposed to be a meeting where the Hyattsville City Council could arrive at a consensus on how to proceed with the University Hills Green Streets project. But the city council was unable to move forward on the issue because there were not enough council members present to legally conduct city business. Only five city council members attended last night's meeting. Mayor Marc Tartaro, Councilor Eric Wingard (Ward 1), Councilor Ruth Ann Frazier (Ward 5), Councilor Paula Perry (Ward 4) and Councilor Carlos Lizanne (Ward 4) were absent, not counting the council vacancy created by the resignation of former Councilor Nicole Hinds Mofor (Ward 5) earlier this year. Paschall Announces Run for Hyattsville Ward 3 Seat

Nicholson Street resident says he will focus on education, pedestrian safety, West Hyattsville development if elected.

Residents of Hyattsville's Ward 3 looking to find a replacement for departing City Council president and Ward 3 representative Matt McKnight have at least one option, for now.  Patrick Paschall, a Ward 3 resident living at 4014 Nicholson Street, was among the first candidates to register for the spring municipal election, set for May 7.  "I really care about Hyattsville. I love it here. It's one of the best kept secrets in the region," said Paschall in an interview. "I bring the experience of being an attorney and having a strong policy experience and drafting policies, it's a skill I want to bring to the Hyattsville City Council."
