Hyattsville CX Raises $3K For Special Olympics

Cyclocross Race Nets $7k For Special Olympics

Organizers of the Hyattsville CX cyclocross race present county Special Olympics bicycle team with big check at council meeting.

During last night's City Council meeting, Hyattsville bicycle shop Arrow Bicycle and area cycling team Route 1 Velo presented a $7,000 check to the Prince George's County Special Olympics Cycling Team. The money was raised at the 2011 Hyattsville CX, a cyclocross race which took place in Magruder Park on October 9, 2011. Roughly 600 racers took part in the event, which has been held every year since 2009. Organizers say it is has become the single biggest fundraiser for the county Special Olympics cycling team.
