Dead Man Found in River Identified
Police say the man found dead in the Northwest Branch of the Anacostia River was a Hyattsville resident.
Police say the deceased man found lying in a river near Queens Chapel Road yesterday is Hyattsville resident Robert Leroy Scott, III. Police estimated Scott to be in his 20s but did not yet have specific information about his age, according to Lt. Sandy Spellman, public information officer with the Maryland-National Capital Park Police which is handling the initial investigation into the incident. The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit is handling the followup investigation. Police say there were no obvious signs of trauma, but that the cause of death remains under investigation. Scott's remains will be sent to the Office of the Chief Medical examiner to be autopsied.
