Late Sunday night, either the Washington Redskins or Dallas Cowboys will be crowned champions of the NFC East and earn a home playoff game in January. In the DC Metro area, the buzz is deafening, but there is significant national interest in the game as well. An ESPN.com poll asking, "Which team are you rooting for in the Cowboys-Redskins game in Week 17 that will decide the NFC East title?" has garnered more than 214,000 votes. Seventy-three percent (representing 49 states) said they are rooting for the Redskins, while 27 percent, representing a lone (star) state are pulling for the Cowboys. Could week 1 have possibly gone any better for the two NFL teams separated by merely an hour on I-95? I certainly had no expectation of that Sunday performance by the Redskins and really had considered the Saints a "lock" to win. It's a bit too early to lose perspective but the potential is exciting. more ›
