Graduate student Dayvon Maurice Green took his life after firing on his roommates, killing one.
Editor's note: Early Tuesday morning, two University of Maryland students were left dead and another injured in a shooting on 36th Ave. in College Park. Police say that the gunman, identified as 23-year-old graduate student Dayvon Maurice Green, set several fires around his house before shooting two of his roommates when they came outside. One—Stephen Alex Rane, 22, of Silver Spring—was later pronounced dead, while another suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Green then turned the gun on himself, according to police. Jose Luis Rodriguez-Nunez, of the 5800 block of 30th Avenue in Hyattsville, was charged second degree murder and related charges. Rodriguez-Nunez, 24, was taken into custody shortly after the shooting in the 2200 block of Sheridan Street in Lewisdale around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, but not formally charged until Dec. 6. A teen was shot around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday while trying to resist surrendering his cell phone to an alleged armed robber, according to Prince George's County police. Prince George's County Police officers spent Wednesday night in Lewisdale handing out flyers and talking to community members about a double shooting that lead to a 14-year-old boy's death. Police Officer First Class Edward Martin said police have yet to identify suspects in the alleged drive-by shooting in the 2200 block of Sheridan Street around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday morning. A "domestic-related" shooting left one woman dead and another injured in Prince George's County early Sunday morning, according to Prince George's County Police Department Cpl. Larry Johnson. Police officers found two women with gunshot wounds in the 9000 block of Central Avenue in Hyattsville. One woman was pronounced dead on the scene, and the other was transported to a local hospital, Johnson said.
