Hyattsville Giant Collects More Than 7K Pounds of Food for Charity

Four area Giant Food stores collected more than 62,800 pounds of food for the Capital Area Food Bank during the annual Stuff-A-Truck event.

Thousands of pounds of food were collected at Giant on East West Highway as part of the Capital Area Food Bank’s annual Stuff-A-Truck outreach. Participants at the Hyattsville location collected 7,090 pounds of food, according to a Giant press release. Giant Food of Landover, with WTTG Fox 5 and CBS Radio Stations WPGC 95.5, 106.7 The Fan, 94.7 Fresh, and 99.1 El Zol, hosted the tenth Stuff-A-Truck food drive on Dec. 2 at four area locations. More than 62,800 pounds of food and $127,805 in monetary donations were collected. This was the highest and second highest year in gross total food donations benefiting the Capital Area Food Bank.

many of us in this area -- hyattsville, university park, college park, etc. -- can indeed truly afford to give, and many do give generously. there are plenty of needy people in largo, and plenty of well-off people in hyattsville.   more ›
