"Volunteers are a very crucial part of that effort" said Maddie Koenig volunteer coordinator with the Anacostia Watershed Society, referring to efforts to maintain or improve the quality of the Anacostia Watershed. "Almost all of the restoration work we do at AWS…is done by volunteers."

The cleanup begins on Sat. Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. Volunteers will meet at the parking lot off of the 4900 block of 38th Street in Hyattsville.
